Beginning operations in 2012, Silver Shield Security was always a proud Black-owned business, and always had a steady stream of clients. However, Jackson felt she could be doing more on the marketing side to compete with her larger, male-dominated competitors. Over the summer of 2020 when the Black Lives Matter movement was at the forefront of the news and social media due to the police brutality protests across the globe, there was an influx of interest in many Black-owned businesses, including Silver Shield.
